Regard tibétain sur le western chinois

C'est au Brésil, dans le décor improbable d'un théâtre du XIXe siècle de la ville de Manaus, au fin fond de l'Amazonie, que j'ai vu pour la première fois Kekexili - la Patrouille sauvage, le film du réalisateur chinois Lu Chuan, très acclamé par la critique. C'était à l'occasion du 2e Amazonas Film Festival auquel concourrait Dreaming Lhasa, que j'ai co-réalisé.

The Happy Light Bioscope Theatre & other stories (part I)

Tibetans first called the cinema beskop, from “bioscope” one of the early terms for movies (as kinema, vitascope, etc.) and now apparently used only by South Africans, Nepalese and Tibetans. These days Tibetans (both in Tibet and in exile) use the term lok-nyen, a direct translation of the Chinese dian-ying (electric shadow).
